NK Concepts -
Dog Training, we offer private training in your home, which is individualized for
each dog and it's owner and group training classes.
The primary type of training we
use is called clicker training, which has been popularized by the work of
Karen Pryor. We also use use lure and reward (food and/or toys) methods. All these methods
are gentle, positive, and fun for both the owner and their dog.
Clicker Training, is an easy-to-learn
technique of telling dogs when they are doing what you want. Clicker Training is used to
train pets, obedience competition winners, service dogs for the blind, deaf or physically
disabled, even police and guard dogs. It's also used with other species of animals, such
as marine mammals in aquariums and movie stars such as Keiko, the killer whale. Babe, the
pig, and his "co-stars", and the animals from Dr. Dolittle. Many TV commercials
use the clicker method with different animals. From birds to horses and everything in
between can and have been clicker trained.
We focus
on pets, so we concentrate on real-world training as in teaching your dog to greet people
nicely at the door, walk on a loose leash, and calmly accept the touch of a child, vet or
groomer -- rather than drill obedience exercises only used in competition rings.

different, so we offer training options to fit every need.
Puppy Kindergarten - 6 hours
Start your puppy off on the right paw! For the 12
to 18 week old puppies, this course emphasizes the importance
of proper early socialization along with good
manners. Positive and motivational methods used.Lots of fun and learning for both the puppy and
the whole family!
Each class
begins with a play period, followed by instruction in the basic commands sit, down, stand,
stay and come when called. Copies of vaccination certificates are required.
Hand-out sheets are available to help you.
Beginners - 8 hours
This course of eight one-hour classes is designed for dogs aged 4 months and older. You will attain happy, overall
control through the instruction of the basic exercises heel, sit, stand, down, stay and
come when called. Classes include socialization, and tips on raising a companion dog. Unruly dogs learn self-discipline and shy dogs gain
confidence. Copies of vaccination certificates are required.
Advanced I - 8
hours
For graduates of Beginners
Obedience, we offer further control through advanced training with eight one-hour
classes. This course is designed to polish
all of the basic exercises through training
with distractions, attention and adding off-leash heeling, stays and recall.
Advanced II - 8 hours
For the trainer
who wants to further their dog's abilities,
this course builds on basic obedience and introduces
retrieving, jumping, hand signals, out-of-sight stays.
In-home training is the most effective way to address behavior problems,
including aggression, housetraining and chewing problems, jumping up, and barking.
For people with busy schedules, in-home training can be more convenient
than classes. We’ll work around your schedule so you can train your dog, no matter
how busy you might be.
