A
view of the world from the eyes of another english springer spaniel...
Reporting in from numerous events around the area we welcome "Topher".
Introduction:
First
(the most important) about the dog:
Name:
Johnny's King Topher Grace aka Topher, Toph Man, Goober
Current titles: None but working towards agility
and flyball titles
English Springer Spaniel (liver and white)
Date
of Birth:
June 9, 2002
Location: Charlotte, NC (Jacksonville, FL as of
June 13)
Favourite toys: Soda Bottles, balls, food,
toys, squeaks
Favourite activities: Playing Frisbee, going to the
dog park, running, swimming, agility/flyball class, going to nursing
homes or hospitals to visit the children and elderly
Activities that her parents make him do: bring the
ball back :) (According to him Springers are meant to bring it by
you and continue running),
Siblings: Stella (big red dawg). The only
mutt Topher will "put up with"
Dislikes: The big bad geese that won’t let Topher
play with the babies.
Morgan has
been training since '98 and has had mix breeds that were trained for
comp but we were never around any of the mix breed events. So she
broke down and adopted a pure bred! Wanting a flashy, active
breed that would be all her own she found her breed.
After 9 months of searching for that perfect breeder within driving
distance she found one who gave her the perfect Springer
according to MORGAN standards. Johnny's King Topher Grace
(Topher) is a liver and white English Springer who has been active
since the first day he was brought home at 10 weeks old. Morgan
has learned tons about this breed and continues to learn. She
has especially found out this is NOT the breed for everyone.
Topher has always been the center of attention whether you liked it
or not. At
10 weeks old he accomplished a 20-step rally-o course at the Pet
Parade in Charlotte, NC. They both continue to work at
this until AKC makes this an official titling sport. Flyball
was another thing to try, Topher started off as the youngest
and not even being able to see over the jumps he is now a "star
player" on the team ready for the first tourney in June.
At
5 months he was in his first basic obed/agility class where he
continued to amaze everyone all. Three months after his
first class he was entered into a show/go (pretend agility trial)
and did amazing! He romped around without an ounce of fear doing
everything that was put in front of him.
At
6 months Topher went to his first nursing home visit where we put on
a Freestyle routine for the children. What started off with 3
kids became 30-40 people by the end of a 2.5-minute routine.
They continue to make their rounds at hospitals performing for young
children on bed rest. They also go around to nursing homes
giving the elderly a chance to dance with this little boy.
Now,
at 9 months old he has already had plenty of accomplishments.
Entering his (and all Springers’ alike) first Frisbee tourney
in Charlotte, NC (our home town), we scored a total of 3 points on
distance/accuracy and did a crowd-pleasing freestyle routine.
We look forward to being at the Skyhoundz Regional May 17th.
Topher and Morgan will be all around the US so be sure to keep
up with this fast moving pair! Topher is still a youngster
with plenty of time and events ahead of him.
