A view of the world from the eyes of a
human being...
Reporting in from the 2006 Iditarod in Anchorage, Alaska, where our
very own reporter calls home, we welcome Robin Rosay.
Idit - day 14
Hi There!
Wow! When was the last time I wrote to you fourteen days in a row?
We're getting to that part of the race where everyone has lost interest
and mine is starting to wane. But still, I did see Lynda Plettner come
into Nome on the Nome web cam this afternoon before work. I got right
back online after work to try to catch the legally blind musher and her
"visual interpreter" come in. They were a little ahead of the time I
estimated, and I missed them by 12 minutes. There are only fifteen
mushers left on the trail.
Sunday is the big awards banquet in Nome. That would be kind of cool to
go to.
First photo today is one of DeeDee Jonrowe's dogs being taken to get
hooked up to the gangline. They all get carried out like this. My
guess is because if you put the front legs on the ground you'd have a
running dog.
Second photo was of this fella hanging out on 4th Avenue entertaining
the crowd.
The third photo is of that same overpass over Northern Lights Blvd. as
in an earlier photo, but this time with a musher named Sandy McKee on
board. Sandy was the third person to drop out of the race way back on
March 7th.
Looks like I'm half an hour away from bedtime again. And I'm yawning.
Good sign. One more quick email and it's lights out for me. Take care.
Robin
Sledding anyone?
