Hi again!
Mom's been keeping my social calendar so busy that I haven't had a chance
to write! Let's see if I can remember what we've been up to...
Way back in June I went to play flyball in Caledonia. We had 2 new team
members join us that we recruited from the Ottawa Valley Border Collie Club. They are a
fabulous addition to our team. We all traveled down in one vehicle-3 humans & 4 BC's.
It was a little bit crowded, but no one seemed to mind if I stood on them while chasing
cars. We had a fantastic weekend of racing, but once again, we ran a bit too fast and got
disqualified on our very last race of the day. Mom seemed a bit sad, but I had tons of
fun! Flyball's great!
Caution! Border Collies on Board!

The next weekend our flyball team & agility club did some
demos for a fundraiser at the Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind in Manotick. I did
flyball, frisbee, agility and some dogs (not me!) did some obedience demos. I even got my
picture in 2 local papers, mind you they called me a "he"! I'm still getting
over that.
I also competed in my first K-9 Kup. The K-9 Kup is a fun team agility
competition that goes for 4 weekends in the summer. Different clubs get teams together for
some fun competition. Mom said I did really well. I didn't knock over any bars and touched
all my contacts on the dog walk and A-frame.

Canada Day weekend I spent doing flyball & agility demos at a big
horse show in Ottawa called the National Capital Round-Up. We had some great crowds come
out and watch us. Unfortunately on the Sunday, it rained and everything got very slippery.
All the flyball dogs kept sliding into the box and all the agility handlers were falling
everywhere!
And the list goes on...
I went to another flyball tournament. This one was in Brampton. Another
long drive--but that's okay, I love to ride in the car. Once again we didn't place because
we got disqualified. Oops! We'll show them next time!

A few weeks ago there was a large horse show in Ottawa, the National
Capital Classic. One of the events was a horse & dog relay, where the horse does a
jumpers course and then we dogs get to do an agility course. Well lo and behold my horse
did the course really fast and I ran it even faster! We won! Mom says that we are going to
be on TV in the fall. They interviewed mom and took lots of pictures of me eating my
prize--a big dog cookie.

Pipers prize-winning run
Sunday was my agility trial debut. Mom says that I did really well in
it too. I read the numbers and followed the course without knocking down any bars (okay, 1
bar) or missing any of the contacts (okay, 1 contact). Mom tried to keep up with me, but
as usual, she just slowed me down. Anyway, I came home with a whole bunch of red ribbons
(and a white one for knocking down that silly bar!) and even some prizes too! Mom said I
got a Gamblers leg, a Snooker leg and two Standard legs. I need one more Standard leg and
I'm going to become an Agility Dog of Canada (ADC). My buddy Blur did really well in his
first trial as well. He just needs one more leg too and then we can both compete at the
Advanced level.

Well now I must go and rest up. This weekend I get to help out at another
fundraiser for the Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind and another K-9 Kup! I'm a busy dog,
but I like it that way.

Take care,
pIPER
