A view of the world from the eyes of an
english springer spaniel...
Introduction:
A little information about their mom:
Michelle Armitage, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
I started training dogs when I was 12 years old. I never had dogs as
a kid and would walk the neighbours dogs. One owner was kind enough
to take me to weekly dog obedience classes. I was bitten by the
obedience bug and have been ever since.
I trained a Vizsla, Labrador and Dalmatian to their CD, each of
these dogs before I was 18 years old and each dog was owned by a
different person. I learned a lot from training different breeds.
After a short break (dating, marriage!!), I returned to the dog
world and trained my own dogs. I had a Beagle "Baxter" and
trained him to one leg shy of his Canadian OTCH (which was awarded
at the spry age of 13) and an English Springer Spaniel
"Kelly" to her Canadian OTCH. Kelly achieved High in Trial
awards and first class placements during her obedience career.
Baxter kept me humble and in the ring for many years. I learned
patience and experienced joy and pride in all his efforts.
I am a licensed obedience judge with the Canadian Kennel Club. I
love to judge and see the variety of breeds performing in the ring.
I have taught obedience for many years with Bytown Dog Obedience
Club in Ottawa. I have given a seminar with Jack McKissock (CKC
judge and my Mentor) on obedience handling and improving
"your" score in the ring by reducing handler errors.
I am kept busy with my doggy activities and love every minute of it.
