Here are several canine-related events taking place in the near future at:

The Training Hall, Carp, Ontario:

Once again, The Training Hall is planning a number of mini Seminars during the winter months. Our first seminar will be held on January 25, 2002 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm with Kim Cooper. Kim will provide an introduction to the training and handling of the search dog, as well as search dog selection. Participants will have a chance to try their hand at introductory search exercises, scent imprinting and teaching the canine alert. The session will include video of SAR dogs working in the wilderness, water and disaster search environment, both in training and on actual searches. The flyers, including a registration form, will be available shortly but in the meantime, mark the 25th of January on your calendar.

On April 20, 2001, The Training Hall is having a mini-seminar-Physiotherapy and the Canine Athlete with Kathy Broughton. Kathy is a licensed physiotherapist working out of the Alta Vista Animal Hospital. This is a 'must attend' for anyone who has a dog in Obedience, Agility, Flyball, or Field events. Kathy will talk about such things stretching, warm-ups, strength, endurance, flexibility, avoiding and treating injuries, etc., etc. The seminar will be from 7:00 to 9:30 and dogs are welcome. Kathy may use some of the dogs for demonstration purposes. The cost is $20 if you pre-register and $25 at the door.. Kathy would like to limit the number of people to 30 so it is suggested that you get your entry in early. You can get flyers/registration forms at The Training Hall, Dreamfields or Bytown.

Fun Match:

A Fun Match will be held on Friday evening, May 11th, 2001 at the Trial site, the Fred G. Barratt Arena in Gloucester. This Match, which is being held on the eve of the BDOC Obedience Trial weekend, will give participants the opportunity to see the Trial site and to work their dogs on the Trial mats. The Bytown Dog Obedience Club's Annual Trial weekend takes place the weekend of May 11-13th, 2001. Four Trials and the prestigious HIT of HITs will take place in the Fred Barratt Arena in Gloucester, Ontario. Seminar:
A Seminar. "Let's Talk Heeling Maneuvers" will be held on Saturday, April 28th, 2001, from 1330-1700hrs, at the BDOC's Fenton Hall location, 2684 Fenton Road in Gloucester Ontario. Rita Susanto and her dog, Justin, will be facilitating this interactive seminar designed to improve heeling techniques. Rita is internationally acknowledged as a true Champion within the sport of dog obedience and has won the HIT of HITs Grand Title for the past three years.

The cost of the seminar is $40 if you plan to bring your dog or $25 if you plan to observe. All proceeds from this seminar will go to support the HIT of HITS.
