A view of the world from the eyes of an
english springer spaniel...
April 4th, 2004 -- Congratulations Bob on your new SADC!
Reporting in from recent CKC Agilty and Obedience Trials plus numerous other events around the area we welcome "Bob".
Introduction:
Just the Facts:
Reg Name: Am/Can Ch Bryden's What About Bob, CD, CDX,
AGN, WT, SADC
Sire: A/C/B Ch Bryden's Up Close and Personal
Dam: Can Ch Brymar's Pretty Woman
Date of Birth: April 30, 1998
Breed: English Springer Spaniel
The Real McCoy:
Call Name: Bob
Nick Names: Bobbaloo and Bob the Gob (drinks lots of
water and shakes his head so gob goes everywhere)
Favourite Past Times: swimming, loves to retrieve dead
pigeons when given the opportunity, squirrel chaser (Bob has been
known to swat them out of trees and chase them, doesn't hurt them and
can't seem catch any, thank goodness)
Favourite Time of Day: Dinner Time, Bob eats Purina Pro
Plan Turkey and Barley or Chicken with Rice and gets two tablespoons
of canned pure pumpkin with each meal. He loves his dinner so
much he bounces off my back when I am getting it ready. He
also sings and howls while I am getting it ready, quite an ordeal.
Career Plans: Bob is working towards his Canadian UDX. Bob is very enthusiastic and a
fun dog to train.
Adventures in Agility and Obedience Trials plus much much more
with Bob reporting in from:
CKC Agility Trial -- held on the August long weekend, 2003.
Bob earned his Novice agility title with the CKC on the August long weekend (2003). This was our first experience
trialling in agility. As you can see from the pictures Bob had as much fun as I did. Bob qualified 3/4 trials placing 2nd, 3rd and 2nd in his class. As a new handler in agility I got in his way and he missed a contact spot in our first trial and otherwise ran a perfect course.
I have been told by my friends that I sound like a drill sergeant on the course, probably my excitement and afraid that Bob wont know which obstacle to do next!!! I was also the only one at the trial who ran the entire course with my dog on the left side, good old fashioned obedience habits. Now that we are hooked, we will try working on both sides and start working on our weaves. Special thanks are extended to Kim Cooper of Best Friends Dog Training for allowing Bob and I to achieve this initial goal and to Frances Holmes for giving me the push I needed to enter the trial.
We've got more about Bob from an Obedience Trial held on September 14, 2003.
Bob was so flashy, happy and wonderful, he kept me smiling all weekend. I am very proud of this special boy and thank David Swartwood for producing such a wonderful dog of such great temperament. I was complimented so many times this weekend on how happy and up Bob was.
This morning Bob scored 40/40 for his heeling, wagging that little or not so little stump of his all the time. He has gotten quite relaxed on the stays and felt obliged to lay down on the sit, given he passed yesterday, what was the point I guess he figured.
Bob got his last leg for his CDX title this weekend with a 195. He finally put it all together. He got his first leg in Petawawa with a 196.5 and a first place, second leg in Ottawa with a 196 and fourth place and his third leg this weekend in Arnprior with a 195.
Hold
on...more news from Agility Bob in his latest agility trials on
March 14 and April 4, 2004.
Agility Bob is at it again. This time Bob was entered in trials governed
by the Agility Association of Canada "AAC". Michelle and Bob were in the first
trial on March 14, 2004 entered in three Starter runs and one Jumper run. Bob
did a super job, placing first and Top Special dog in two of the Starter runs
and again in the Jumper run. One flyoff on the teeter totter cost him. But
what speed!!! The happy pair entered another trial on April 4 to complete their first title with the AAC. Bob was entered in three more Starter runs, a
Gamble run and another Jumper run. Bob placed first in four of the five runs
and Top Special dog in two of them. Bob got his third needed Starter run on the
first try. Thank goodness as Bob and Michelle both saw how little things cost
you faults and even though you might get a rosette, the little Qualifying ribbon
is the most important one to get. Bob now has the initials SADC after this name
(S for Specials, one lower jump height, no time reduction).

Until next time,

PS I am attaching a collage I had done of Bob when he got his AAC Advanced
leg. I laugh now as I hadnt groomed him and he is quite shaggy. He was wet
from being hosed down but its fun. He is now groomed and looks as handsome
as ever.
