Rio - The Toy Tester -- somebody has to do this dirty deed and that's me!

Toy Tester Profile

Name:  Rio
Official Handle:  Partner's Blame It On Rio
Current titles:  ATT  (Armature Toy Tester)
Breed:  Border Collie
Date of Birth:  September 29, 2001
Location:  Edmonton AB
Favourite toys:  Stuffed animals, anything that can be chewed
Favourite activities:  Chewing on Piper, going for walks, sleeping in the car
Dislikes:  The cat food being out of reach, not being allowed to play in the toilet.

Since my sister gets to do all the fun activities like flyball & agility and I'm just too little, Mom says I can test toys!  She says it's a very important job.

The first toy I was given to test was a purple Havaball.  Piper got very excited when she saw the Havaball package come out of the envelope.  Mom let her take it out of the package on her own.  Since Piper's oldest she got to play with it first.  Mom filled it with some of Piper's dinner.  She managed to empty it in less than 1 minute!  She's pretty experienced at that sort of thing though--Mom used to make her work for her dinner using a treat ball.  Then it was my turn.  She put my dinner in it.  Oh it smelled so good, but it was trapped!  I licked it, but it didn't taste good and then I picked it up.  Kibble fell out!  Wow!  It was very difficult trying to convince the Havaball to spit out my dinner, but I worked hard.  Then I got distracted by the cats walking by and Piper stole the ball, emptied it and ate my kibble in about 16.2s!  Mom then got creative, she stuck a cookie in the Havaball.  Piper worked and worked at it, managing to nibble corners of the cookie but not get the whole thing out.  She tried bouncing it, rolling it and then she even dropped it down the stairs!  Mom timed her--she spent 1h25 min. working on that cookie!  Then I stole it back, but my attention span isn't that long, I only played with it for 12min, but mom said that's still pretty good!

Rio's Ratings
Challenge:  Very tricky.  I can't carry it around very easily because my mouth is too small.
Interest Factor: Much more interesting & fun than a tennis ball, but not as interesting as the cats!
Comments:  The Havaball was good fun, even if it is one of those 'educational toys'

Rio gives it a 7/10

Piper's Observations
Challenge:  Fantastic toy!  Anything that's able to keep a Busy BC like me occupied for an hour is fantastic!
Interest Factor:  I will play with it for hours!  I will carry it around until Mom shoves another cookie in it for me.
Comments:  Mom lets us play with it in the house because it's bouncy and does less damage than the kong when thrown or dropped down the stairs.  Balls of any kind are great!

Piper gives it a 9/10.
